For the last 20 years I’ve been doing all the things that professors typically do: develop and teach courses, do research, write books and articles, and do the occasional consulting gig. The difference is that I do it freelance, on my own terms.
To survive, I’ve had to become very efficient at acquiring knowledge, be open to new ideas and different points of view, get my hands dirty with new technology, and strike a balance between sharing and charging for my intellectual assets.
This blog is an opportunity to share my personal observations and comments about what’s important in my world — ideas, people, tools, techniques, and business models. It compliments my more formal publications, the Montague Institute Review, and books such as Customizing & Governing the SharePoint Search System.
The blog header is a photo of a meadow in the village of Montague, MA, the original home of the Montague Institute.
